‎‎Search Africon was created and founded in 2024 by Nigerian SEO and digital visibility consultant Ebere Cecilia Jonathan. She launched the premier search marketing conference to help African businesses, digital marketers, and tech professionals to improve their digital presence using SEO, digital advertising, UX, branding, content and social media skills or simply interested in making the internet more friendly for users.

‎‎The inaugural Search Conference debuted in 2024 with enthusiasm and approval from a wide range of global digital experts. The maiden edition of the Search Africon digital marketing conference was held in Victoria Island, Lagos State, Nigeria, on May 17, 2024. It was a session of insights, as renowned digital experts converged in Lagos for the 1st edition of Africa’s most dependable digital marketing conference.

‎The Continent’s foremost SEO and digital marketing event 2025  held at Mike Adenuga Centre, Alliance Francaise, Osborne Road, Ikoyi, Lagos State on May 2, 2025 and featured a panel discussion on ‘How African Culture Influences Digital Marketing and Consumer Engagement’ by Ife Durosinmi-etti, founder, Herconomy; Shina Charless Memud, founder, Yournotify and Crystal Nyarko, founder, Clear Narative Media.

‎‎The Search AfriCon 2025 event was supported by Google, The Gray Dot Company, USA, Women-in-Tech SEO, UK, Semrush, Bax Analytics, Turn Global, Spain, and Nisa Digital, Dubai Experts in the African digital marketing ecosystem saw experts converge in Lagos, Nigeria for the second edition of Search AfriCon, scheduled to start on May 2, 2025.

The conference featured a full day of expert-led sessions, practical workshops, and high-value networking, involving over 250 attendees drawn from Africa and beyond.

‎‎Founder of Search Africon, Ebere Cecilia Jonathan, expressed delight at the success of the event, highlighted the importance of the conference in equipping African professionals with the tools and strategies they need to enrich their craft in order to impact positively on African businesses.

‎‎“It’s about optimising your brand’s visibility, starting from your website to your social media and connecting everything so that it is easier for people to simply see you, know you and trust you enough to put their money in what you are doing. This is 2026; we do not need to be in your DM asking for prices for services when one can just click a button and pull out a card and make payments. The idea is also to get digital marketers taken seriously because they are doing a lot for businesses.”
