The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially launched the Digital Training Academy, a major free skills programme under the National Skilling Project. The portal went live on 17 August 2026, and Nigerians can now apply for fully sponsored training in high-demand digital and professional skills.
What is the Digital Training Academy?
The DTA is a government-backed initiative run by the Federal Ministry of Education in partnership with Coursera (and Pluralsight). It provides 32,000 free learning licences to equip Nigerians with world-class digital skills, improve employability, and help more citizens participate in the digital economy.
Training is available nationwide across all 36 states and the FCT. For those without personal devices or reliable internet, dedicated training centres have been set up with equipment and connectivity.
Participants can choose from more than 10 high-demand tracks delivered by top global experts. Key areas include:
- Software Development
- Cloud Technologies (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, etc.)
- Cybersecurity
- IT Automation / DevOps
- Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
- Connected Technologies / IoT
- FinTech
- Parallel Computing
- Quantum Computing
- Natural Language Processing (NLP)
Most tracks run for 8–12 weeks and combine self-paced online learning with live sessions and projects.
Successful participants receive certificates of completion that are recognised by employers.

The programme is open to all Nigerian citizens aged 18 and above, including:

4. Complete your personal profile (education background, work experience if any, etc.).
5. Select your preferred learning track.
6. Take the pre-assessment (skill-based and psychometric).
7. Await the result — you may be admitted immediately, placed on a waiting queue, or marked ineligible based on available licences and assessment performance.
Nigeria’s digital economy is growing rapidly, and demand for skilled talent in AI, cybersecurity, cloud, software engineering and related fields continues to rise. The Digital Training Academy removes the cost barrier that has kept many talented Nigerians from accessing premium global training platforms. It also forms part of a broader push to create a skills-to-jobs pipeline, including links to opportunities through programmes such as 3MTT and the National Talent Export Programme (NATEP).
