Nigeria’s fastest-growing tech talent and innovation platform, TechOff, has officially launched registration for its 2026 edition, sending a powerful message to young Africans: innovation is no longer reserved for a select few —everybody can build.
What started in 2023 as a simple talent showcase has quickly grown into a dynamic, multi-city movement dedicated to identifying, nurturing, and amplifying the next generation of tech builders across Nigeria. The initiative continues to break barriers by creating accessible pathways for aspiring innovators to turn bold ideas into impactful realities.
2026 Expansion
This year, TechOff will span five major cities: Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, Ife, and Akure. The program is designed to empower a wide range of talent — including creators, designers, software engineers, product managers, data analysts, thinkers, and problem-solvers — to develop scalable solutions that address real African challenges using artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and other emerging technologies.
At its core, TechOff 2026 is built on the conviction that technological innovation should be democratized. The platform aims to close Nigeria’s widening tech talent gap by offering participants valuable exposure, expert mentorship, ecosystem connections, funding opportunities, and the support needed to move from concept to execution.
Over ₦1,000,000 in cash prizes is up for grabs. Interested participants are encouraged to register early via the official portal.
Founder’s Statement
Speaking on the launch, TechOff Founder Mr. Olumide Sosanya said: “We are entering a new era where AI is dramatically lowering the barrier to innovation. TechOff 2026 is about helping more young people realise that they, too, can build meaningful, world-class solutions regardless of their academic background or starting point.”
Since its inception, TechOff has engaged hundreds of participants, partnered with seasoned industry experts and mentors, and successfully supported numerous emerging innovators through funding, media visibility, and strategic ecosystem introductions.
What is TechOff?
TechOff is Africa’s first tech reality competition show built specifically for developers, designers, product managers, engineers, and all technology builders. Contestants come together to tackle real-world tasks under genuine pressure, competing not only for substantial cash prizes but also for the prestigious title of TechOff Icon.
Unlike traditional hackathons, TechOff is a full-fledged reality competition. It features structured tasks, high-pressure challenges, behind-the-scenes drama, public voting, and a grand finale. The focus goes beyond just building a product in 48 hours, it aims to reveal the complete character, resilience, creativity, and problem-solving ability of tech builders over the course of the competition.
Who Can Apply?
- Anyone 18 years and above
- Tech professionals and enthusiasts based in Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, Ife, Akure, or the UK
- Roles include: Developers, Designers, Product Managers, Data Analysts, Engineers, and other technology builders
- All experience levels are welcome from early-career talent still growing to seasoned professionals
