‎Terra Industries Win $1 Million Anka Metal Mining Security Contract

Posted by

‎Terra Industries has been awarded a $1 million phase-one contract by Anka Metals to provide security for the Jema’a Resource Project in Kaduna State, Nigeria.

‎The deal, announced today 14th September 2026, marks Terra’s first contract under a broader partnership covering security across Anka Metals’ mining portfolio. It comes shortly after the Nigerian defence-technology company launched its commercial division and closed $2 million in contracts to protect lithium mining sites.

The Jema’a Resource Project is one of Nigeria’s most significant emerging mineral assets. Located at Gidan Waya in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, it hosts a multi-metallic deposit containing gold, lithium, copper, and nickel. The discovery was made during exploration work involving the Kaduna Mining Development Company (KMDC) and Anka Metals.

‎In July 2026, the project and KMDC signed agreements with the Africa Finance Corporation under a $500 million framework aimed at financing and developing mining assets across the state. As development advances, securing the sites has become a clear priority.

‎What Terra Will Deliver?

Terra Industries will supply autonomous surveillance and site-protection systems for the project. The company specialises in integrated air, land, and maritime systems powered by its ArtemisOS autonomous command-and-control platform. These solutions are designed for remote, high-value infrastructure where conventional security coverage is limited and response times are long.

‎The systems combine persistent surveillance, real-time threat detection, and coordinated response capabilities—the same technology stack Terra provides to defence customers and other critical infrastructure operators.

‎Terra’s Growing Commercial Momentum
‎Founded in 2024 by Nathan Nwachuku and Maxwell Maduka, Terra Industries has positioned itself as a homegrown defence-technology provider focused on protecting critical infrastructure across Africa and the Global South. The company already secures assets valued at approximately $11 billion, including power plants, mines, and other strategic sites.

‎Its commercial division, launched at the end of August 2026, targets private operators of mines, power plants, pipelines, and similar assets. The $1 million Anka Metals contract builds on the earlier $2 million lithium-mining deals and reinforces demand for autonomous security solutions in Nigeria’s expanding critical-minerals sector.

Why This Matters for Mining in Nigeria and Africa

Mining operators across Africa frequently face thin security coverage and elevated risks of theft, sabotage, and illegal activity. Autonomous systems offer a scalable alternative to large human security teams, delivering continuous monitoring at lower long-term cost.

‎For Nigeria, the deal supports efforts to develop domestic critical-mineral resources more securely and attract further investment. For Terra, it validates the commercial strategy of applying defence-grade technology to private-sector infrastructure needs.

‎As the Jema’a Resource Project moves forward under the broader Africa Finance Corporation framework, effective site security will be essential. Terra Industries’ involvement signals growing confidence in locally developed autonomous solutions for protecting Africa’s industrial and mineral assets.
